I asked first before I posted this. And let me reiterate that nothing has been confirmed yet. BUT...heee.

This is all on MJ's Big Blog:

Slash, of Guns-n-Roses tweeted this:

American Idol has asked me to do the mentor bit for Rock Week. #fb

That in of itself is EEEEEE worthy. Even though it doesn't say "I AM mentoring for Rock Week."

Then MJ edited to include this tweet from Chris Daughtry:

Should know this week what 1st single will be. Will let u know as soon as I know:)<

Now if a former Idol contestant were in LA and say wanted to debut this new single. You'd think they would do so on a Wednesday night result show. Say, like rock week? If they were a rocker like Daughtry.

http://mjsbigblog.com/gnrs-slash-tweets-that-hes-been-asked-to-mentor-rock-week.htm

So...while it could change. I'm just going to go ahead and EEEEEE anyway!

yes, yes yes!! Please let him rock it out!! I'm ready for some more head banging!

I can't believe there are only 4 more weeks left.

Does anyone remember the themes at this point last year? I remember Neil Diamond, but that's the only theme I can think of. I just remember last year Jason did Mr. Tambourine Man and I Shot the Sheriff, but can't think of what that theme was--ha ha! CRS strikes again!

I know! And I honestly think Slash could be a good mentor. We'll won'tget GnR though, just because it's Slash. The rights to those songs are pretty tough considering they'd have to go through Axel and the other former band members for some of the songs. Stranger things have happened though.

That being said, there is just ginormous potential for Adam here! But of course first we need to get through this coming week. Must happen first. And then this needs to be 500% confirmed.

IIRC neither Daughtry or Cook did that well in rock week in their respective seasons. But then again, they aren't Adam either lol. Two songs in the rock genre from Adam just makes me squeeee a whole lot!

ETA: Paperweight Week Five was Neil Diamond last year, and thus Paulagate. Week Four was RnR HoF, and goodbye Jason. Then top three was.....judges picks, the hometown visits, and maybe another song. That I don't remember. I was a little bummed that Jason was gone by that show lol.

Top 5 was Neil Diamond; Top 4 was songs from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Thanks, Glam. What about top 3/2? I kind of lost interest after Jason left.

I'll probably be too slow again. But top 3 was judges picks and something.

Top two was,....something, one of the cornation songs, and well I know Archie did Imagine again, and Cook did The World I Know.

I was more excited to see Jason back (for the finale), so it's a little fuzzy for me.

When they get to Top 3/2, they start doing different things like "Judge's Choice" or they let Clive Davis pick one. Sometimes they let them reprise a song they did well with earlier. Last year the Top 2 had to sing a new song from a list they were given, and I believe the producer's picked one. Hard to say what they will do this year.

It makes sense that one of the upcoming weeks would be rock week; they've mentioned a lot this season about talent like Daughtry getting voted off before their time.

I'm excited...

INTERESTING LITTLE TWIST ON ROCK WEEK

American Idol Top 4 Theme & Spoilers
2009 APRIL 30
tags: Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, American Idol duets, American Idol Top 4, American Idol Top 4 Duets, american idol top 4 spoilers, classic rock, classic rock duets, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, slash
by TopIdol
As I reported before, the Top 4 will be performing Rock songs next week.

However, I’ve also heard the ouvre will be limited to classic rock, i.e., songs of the 1970s-80s. Slash (!!!!) will also be the mentor, as originally repoted by Idolator.

This week, the contestants WILL BE doing TWO songs, however…in another twist differentiating this season’s Top 4 show from previous ones, American Idol will be taking inspiration all those international editions of Idol…

(And I have been hoping for this for soooooo long for some sick ass reason, I swear. I have wanted to see this for some time on this shit show.)

The Top 4 will not only be performing solo renditions of classic rock songs from the 1970s and 80s…the even number means there will be also be DUET performances.

(I received this information from a very reliable source, BTW. Plus, what reason do I have to yank anyone’s chain?)

As I said before, I have always wanted to see the kiddies perform duets on the show. Probably because I am sick & twisted.

Wow, duets??? So, I wonder if that means they'll be judged together? I guess they would have to be. And, I'm thinking Adam and Allison won't have a duet, so to me, I'm thinking Adam will have Kris or Danny. Wow, this will be very interesting.

Wow... duets could be interesting. Not sure how I feel about that though...

On another note, I was wondering if anyone else is worried that because of Idol putting Adam in that awkward position, and him being (possibly) in the bottom two will mess with his confidence. One of the things I find so appealing about all of Adam's past performances is that he literally oozes confidence - he seems so at ease and like he's just having fun.

I really hope last night's drama doesn't shake him... I would hate to see it show in his performances...or worse yet, for him to "play it safe" because he's worried about alienating people, especially on rock week :(

But I have a feeling by the time next Tuesday rolls around he'll be back on his A game! I can't wait to see what song(s) he picks!

If anything, I think Adam will come out even more confident. I'm sure the theater background will help with that. Broadway (NYC or elsewhere) isnt an easy job, and there are bound to be mess ups with lines, or placement, or even song lyrics. I am sure that that has happened to him before, and he went right back on stage and performed perfectly the next "go 'round".

The boy knows what he is doing and knows that landing in the bottom was just a bump in the road, and not the brick wall of going "home".

(Dam.. when did I get so cheery and rah rah?)

As far as duets... Ive been thinking about it a lot. If he is with Allison, Im not so worried. We saw how he and Allison interacted/performed "together" when they did the group song "Cant Get You Outta My Head". Plus, she is along the same genre as Adam. But.. if he were to be paired with Kris (who I like), or Danny (who I despise), it could be a trainwreck. :pray be with Allison!!

Duets on Rock week... I'll take it! I have always enjoyed the Idol duets during the tour. Adam said during his Top 5 interview, he was really looking forward to the duets this year on tour... he has the utmost respect for his fellow contestants and I would think he's excited about doing this.

I don't think we will see Adam's confidence shaken, I think he will come out stronger than ever on Tuesday night. Besides, this week he can do his thang!!! :yahoo
